This series was taken during a 6 week backpacking trek across Europe in 2003. This was the last time I shot with film and the last images I developed by hand in a
darkroom. I treasure these prints because this trip confirmed my desire to become a professional photographer, and becaue I don't know if I will ever shoot with film again. With the amazing advancement of
digital, including having my own darkroom on my computer, there is no reason for me to use film anymore. But I will always cherish the memories of fondling with film in pitch blackness, the smell of
developer, choosing between a roll of B&W or color film, and the suspense of first seeing your picture on a tiny negative. |
